James Mollison, a documentary photographer from England believes
that a child’s bedroom can best describe about what sort of life he/she led. “Where
Children Sleep” was actually a project by Mr. Mollison undertaken to represent
needy children around the world. He managed to photograph a diverse cross
section of children around the world to show inequalities between their lives.
He captured a portrait of each child along with his/her
bedroom from the U.S.A, England, Brazil, Mexico, Italy and the West Bank, Senegal, Nepal, Kenya, India
and China. All these striking
photographs were published in Mollison’s book, “Where Children Sleep” exposing some
shocking stories about each child.
James Mollison describe the condition of child’s dreamless
sleep in these words, “I hope the book gives a glimpse into the lives some
children are living in very diverse situations around the world; a chance to
reflect on the inequality that exists, and realize just how lucky most of us in
the developed world are,”
